Description

The ₦1 note was one of the earliest and lowest denominations of Nigeria’s currency, issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria. It was first introduced in the 1970s after Nigeria changed its currency system from pounds to naira.

The note featured national symbols and cultural imagery representing Nigeria’s heritage. Over time, due to inflation and wear, the ₦1 note was gradually replaced by the ₦1 coin.

Today, the ₦1 note is no longer in circulation and is mainly kept as a historical or collectible item.
